Sometime. David Hayes, 2012

i365 project, 212/365. (iphone4, olloclip: maco lens, Hipstamatic: Salvador 84 lens, Dream Canvas film.)

This is the last of my Hipstamatic images...at least for awhile. It has been interesting this month trying out different combos...and I didn't even get through half of the possible lens/film match ups! I found some new favorites...and some that I'm not sure I'll ever use. I'm ending this series with a combo that I used before...but one that is my all time favorite...the Salvador 84 lens and Dream Canvas film. Put on an Olloclip macro lens and you can't help but get a great image!!

During the next 24+ days I will be posting images that I build during July...I can't stop "tinkering" with my apps! I'm going to use this backlog of images to my advantage...I plan to return to analog photography for awhile...digging out my film cameras...seeing what I can come up by returning to my roots. If anything interesting happens, I will post it...that's for sure!! So make sure to check in...often!!

Something Old, Something New...

Something Old, Something New. David Hayes, 2012
i365 project, 203/365. (iPhone4, Hipstamatic: Pistil Film, Roboto Glitter Lens, no flash)

This was an experiment. Not quite "round-tripping" or "flip-flopping" but certainly inspired by that idea. The base image is a vintage photo from one of my wife's family scrapbooks. We think it is of a steel mill in Erie, PA but not really sure of that. Nor of the date. We think her grandfather took this as he was a photographer during his time. I shot this photo with my iPhone...using Hipstamatic...and liked what came about....

Buried Treasures - A Call For Collaborative Participants

Today, Seth Apter is hosting one of his wonderful collaborative projects on his blog, The Altered Page. This time, those who are participating are asked to re-post a favorite post from the past. Seth has listed all the links to these re-postings on The Altered Page giving his readers a chance to enjoy these flash-to-the-pasts. I invited you to visit this Buried Treasure 2012 project and take in some wonderful things!

Rather than repost one of my favorite posts, I decided just to give you the link to this: Christmas Visitors. I wrote this on Christmas Eve, 2010....and I still think it's one of my favorites...it was the first post that I thought of when I saw Seth's invitation. I hope you enjoy it.

Carnival. David Hayes, 2012

i365 project, 192/365. (Hipstamatic: Libatique 73 lens, Dream Canvas film, no flash)

I shot this image during set-up day for the Cherry Festival in Traverse City, MI. This is one of those happy accidents...I had pre-set Hipstamatic with a combo, put my iPhone in my pocket and strolled to the festival site. Once there, I pulled my iPhone out and started shooting. It wasn't until later that I discovered what had happened...that Hipstamatic went into Random mode and was mixing things up on me! Wasn't unhappy about that when I found this image!

Taken during the set up for the Traverse City, MI Cherry Festival. The gentleman in the photo runs this stand...he asked me if everything was looking good! I allowed that it was. He told me to come back that evening and he'd fix me a "Louisiana Red". Unfortunately, I couldn't. Maybe next year...

Hipstamatic Month!

Summer Pop. David Hayes, 2012.

i365 project, 182/365. (Hipstamatic: Salvador 84 lens, Ina's 1969 film, Standard Flash - on)

Welcome to Hipstamatic Month! This month I will be posting images that will be done exclusively with the Hipstamatic app. This is one of the first apps I picked up after getting my iPhone4 and will always be my "first love". The problem with this app is that with all it's various different lens, film, and flash combinations...it can be a bit overwhelming!! So...I figured I'd take this month to try out as many different combinations as I could...and share them with you! I have a list made up, but if you have a favorite combo that you'd like to share...please do and I'll give it a try as well!! (Oh...don't bother to ask for the recipe...I've already gave it to you in the caption!! Enjoy!)

So off I go...becoming a Hipsta manic!!!
